AmCham HR Committee Meeting with Mercer

Supplementary Pension Programs are relatively new concept but gaining popularity in China, because the aging population and the current state of the social pension system. As HR Managers are faced with ever-increasing attraction and retention issues, many are beginning to consider supplementary pension plans as a possible solution. However, given the relatively new concept of company sponsored pension plans in here, designing and implementing an effective supplementary retirement plan can be a challenge for HR Managers.


With the theme of “Design and Implement Effective and Innovative Benefit Programs in China”, the AmCham HR Committee Meeting with Mercer was held in Guangzhou (May 7th) and Shenzhen (May 8th). It is focused on the Supplementary Pension Programs and topics were discussed were as follows:

l         Reasons for setting up a supplementary pension plan

l         How to choose & design a suitable pension plan for your organization

l         Procedures - How to implement your pension plan efficiently

l         How to design and implement effective benefit programs (including flexible benefits, etc.)

l         How to effectively manage your group insurance benefits through partnering with an intermediary


Mr. Allen J. Wu (China Business Leader for Retirement & Employee Benefits) and Mr. Jeffrey Fan (China Business Leader for Health and Benefits) from Mercer made brilliant presentations and shared their advanced experiences towards to the supplementary pension plan.
