San Antonio Delegation Visits China

Mayor of the City of San Antonio Phil Hardberger led a delegation of high-ranking business leaders and corporate representatives to visit China from September 22 to 30. The American Chamber of Commerce in South China hosted the delegation and organized their trip to Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

September 22-24, Hong Kong

The main purpose for the delegation to Hong Kong is to visit the logistics industry. So Mayor Hardberger and other delegates had meetings here with Hong Kong Information Services of Information Services Department, Hong Kong Logistics Development Council and AmCham in Hong Kong to have more detailed information of the situation of logistics and other relevant industries in Hong Kong. Moreover, visits to Modern Terminals and Fulbright & Jaworski, LLP let delegates have more direct experience with the logistics development in Hong Kong.

September 25, Shenzhen

CCPIT Shenzhen cooperated with AmCham South China arranged meetings for the delegation in Shenzhen. Vice Mayor of Shenzhen Li Ming met the delegation and had brief introduction of the pillar industries and investment environment in Shenzhen. Corporate delegates from San Antonio City were very interested in the development of hi-tech industries of Shenzhen and the visit to ZTE Corporate was a great opportunity for delegates to know one famous IT enterprise investing in Shenzhen.

September 26, Guangzhou

The U.S. Consul General in Guangzhou Robert Goldberg and other Commercial Consuls had breakfast meeting to welcome the San Antonio Delegation and gave them a general introduction of American enterprises’ investment in South China.

After the breakfast meeting, the whole delegation visited Guangzhou People’s Municipal Government and had a meeting with high-ranking leaders to discuss the future cooperating opportunities.

In addition to the U.S. Consulate General and Guangzhou People’s Municipal Government, the American Chamber of Commerce in South China held the dinner for Mayor Hardberger and other delegates with more than 200 AmCham members. President of CCPIT Guangzhou Weng Wenxiang, Director of Guangdong Board of Investment Promotion Song Xiaojun and other government leaders attended on that evening.

September 27-29, Shanghai

The San Antonio Delegation was met with the U.S. Consul General in Shanghai Kenneth Jarrett, Office of U.S. Commercial Service and AmCham in Shanghai. They attended briefings of “The Business Environment in East China”, “Foreign Direct Investment ‘Single Company Promotion’—Investing in San Antonio” organized by the US Commercial Service, as well as Breakfast with Members of the AmCham in Shanghai and selected American Business Leaders.
