Ms. Jo Hawley

UK Consul General in Guangzhou

Ipersonally made three ladies rules in
our office, offering extra support for new
parents, man and female, although mostly
are ladies in my office at this moment.
In my office, i created a parenting group.
When new mommies return for work, I can
provide them appropriate and comfortable
breast feeding space. In recruitment, i
encourage a diverse range of candidates
to apply, for example, by pushing
advertisement particular to women’s
networks and such actions all of us can
take. In my organization, most of the senior
Ambassador are female. And most of them
are working moms, so there is nothing to
stop us, as women, particularly when we
support each other.

Ms. Rebekah Mawson

New Zealand Consul General in Guangzhou

As a progressive country, New Zealand
is proud of its history of being a lead to
advance gender equality, which started with
being the first country in the world to give
women the right to vote back in 1893. And
we have a number of senior female leaders
in New Zealand who provide good examples
for young women. Using trade policy is a
way to support women growing greater
participation in economic activities. We
know it’s a good outcome for New Zealand
overall and we look forward to continuing to
work engaged with others on this journey.
