The Chamber hosted Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for
Europe Dan Mullaney and the membership of the Business
Coalition for Transatlantic Trade for a debrief on the 12th
round of negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and
Investment Partnership (TTIP) held last week in Brussels.
Mullaney described ongoing progress in a number of areas,
including regulatory cooperation, with continuing divergences
on issues such as investment, services, and procurement. U.S.
and EU negotiators stated publicly after the round that they
remain committed to moving the negotiations as far along
as possible in 2016, with an eye towards reaching a political
agreement. The Chamber continues to emphasize that the
substance of the agreement must dictate the timing.
