U.S. Presidential
Election Day Party

November 9th was a historic day
and AmCham South China and the U.S.
Consulate marked the occasion with a U.S.
Presidential Election Day Party from 8 a.m. to 2
p.m. at China Hotel Guangzhou, attracting more
than 800 of our colleagues. The party celebrated
the announcement of the newly elected American
president, after a long, grueling presidential
campaign in the United States, with updated
news and poll results direct from the U.S.
broadcast live on television.

This year’s event was exceptionally lively as polls
drew to a close and results began to reveal the
emerging winner, to the cheers of the watching
audience. Just like at AmCham South China’s
2012 Presidential Election Party, the event
program included an interactive Q&A session
with the audience to impart the details and
intricacies of the U.S. election system. Guests
were also invited to cast their own ballot and
attempt to predict the result. Those who guessed
correctly had the opportunity to win a round-
trip air ticket to the U.S. by courtesy of Hainan
Airlines.
