AmCham South China Autumn, a time of year known for falling leaves and cooling weather, is
quickly approaching. Some may believe that autumn is a time when
things seem a little slower, but AmCham South China has no time for casual
walks in the park. We are already preparing for many fun and interesting
fall activities for both you and your families. Your children will want to
know that we are now registering players for our annual AmCham Youth
Soccer League that lasts from October 20 until December 8. We are also now
registering for two very important delegations.

Once again, we will be sending a delegation to the China International
Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT), scheduled for September 8-11 in
Xiamen, China. 2018 will mark the 40th anniversary of the launch of reform
and opening-up in China. As an international investment promotion
platform for Chinese enterprises to attract foreign investment and
make outbound investment, the 20th CIFIT will focus on the growing
demands in the reform and opening-up progress. The event will attract
over 100,000 professional participants, including 15,000 overseas visitors
from governmental institutions, investment promotion agencies, business
associations and multinational corporations of more than 100 countries
and regions, as well as 50,000 business professionals and government
officials from more than 300 major cities in China.

You may remember our recent visit by Neil Bush, the fourth son of our
41st president. The man known for his business acumen and philanthropic
endeavors spoke with hundreds of our members as he traveled with us
for three days to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Shunde. Mr. Bush
also shared his lively views on China-US relations during his briefing
on the President George H. W. Bush China-U.S. Relations Conference,
the conference that bears his father’s name. We are honored to send a
delegation to this historic event that will be held in Washington D.C.
October 29-31. The focus of the 2018 Conference is the crucial role of China
and the United States in preventing, preparing for, and responding to food
crisis. The premise is that our two countries must work together to avoid
widespread human suffering and economic and social disruption that
could be the result of food or water shortage.

We look forward to seeing you at our activities. We are your Chamber of
Commerce in South China, and we are always here for you.
