and talent from the mainland and abroad to
establish a presence in the park.
Summary
Amid complex and evolving global dynamics,
Hong Kong is actively aligning with the national
development strategy and fully engaging with the
15th FYP. As an externally oriented economy, Hong
Kong¡¯s traditional strengths in finance, shipping
and trade will be tested in the next few years. It
should leverage its unique advantages and act
as a super connector: bringing in global capital,
talent and standards, while empowering Chinese
mainland enterprises to go global with confidence.
As the nation focuses on breakthroughs in areas
such as AI, life sciences and green technology,
Hong Kong will serve as a critical nexus where
mainland innovation connects with global markets
and funding. By capitalizing on its international
advantages, Hong Kong can become a data channel
between the Chinese mainland and the world and
explore applications such as stablecoins based on
its financial system that aligns with international
rules. Although short-term competition remains
in goods trade and duty-free consumption for
Hong Kong and neighboring Hainan, cross-border
synergy is expected in the longer term under the
¡°Hong Kong services + Hainan manufacturing
and market access¡± model. Opportunities will
also emerge in high-end services consumption,
including professional and financial services,
education and health care.
